An average text page for calculations contains 1650 letter, including spaces. The visible dimension of the text depends strongly on the used font type. That is not the visible dimension, but the counted letter mean the basis.
Another calculation for selection takes the number of words for basis - depending on the agreement in the source or the translated text. The different languages use words with different length. Considering the languages, which I translate, we get the average of 6 letters per word.
