The
aim of this sport is to simulate a real hunting – but without blood. :o)
Lure coursing gives sighthounds an opportunity to chase artificial game over a predetermined zigzagging course. The lure is tied onto a strong line and the line is led around a series of pulleys, which are set out in a field. The line is powered by the lure machine and the speed of the lure is controlled by the Operator.
The course length should be between 500 and 1000m for the larger breeds and between 400 to 700m for the smaller breeds.
Competitors normally run in pairs, wearing red and white scarves. At each event two (or three) judges are positioned.

The Hungarian coursings are organized in Sóskút, which is about 20km far from Budapest.
